Progress is being made to reduce nitrogen, phosphorus and sediment discharges into the Bay. Many of these reductions have come from improved agricultural practices and the institution of conservation measures such as forest riparian buffers. Forest riparian buffers are areas along streams populated by native trees and shrubs. They’re especially beneficial to improving water quality, says Dennis Eby
