Raleigh, NC (July 8, 2024) – Better Together, a collaboration of soybean outreach organizations,
has released an interactive tool, Bean Binoculars, to document and display soybean production
issues from across the country in real-time.
“We believe there’s educational value in releasing a map like this,” said Rachel Vann, program
leader for Better Together, “For students, future crop consultants, future farmers, and extension
agents.”
The map will include high quality photos and descriptions of soybean issues across the country,
as well as links to research-based supplemental information. Better Together envisions the map
being used in three main ways:
1. Keeping growers up-to-date on regional and national soybean issues
2. Elevating research-based information from trusted sources
3. Cataloging soybean issues into a comprehensive online database
“We’re excited about how taking the time to document some of these issues with high-quality
photos that we interact with daily can be used to broaden impact for a variety of soybean
stakeholders,” Vann said.
The interactive map can be found here https://go.ncsu.edu/beanbinoculars. This project is
enthusiastically supported by the United Soybean Board.
